RTX 4090 DLSS 3 Test Results: The delay is slightly higher than that of DLSS 2.
Earlier this month, NVIDIA released the RTX 40-series graphics card, and simultaneously launched the DLSS 3 oversampling technology exclusive to the new graphics card.
On Sep 28, Digital Foundry got the RTX 4090 public version graphics card and tested the performance improvement of DLSS 3 in three games including “Cyberpunk 2077“.
According to the test results, if the native 4K frame rate performance is used as the benchmark, then DLSS 2 can bring about 250% to 300% performance improvement in the game, while DLSS 3 can bring a maximum improvement of 552%.
According to Shumao Club, the essence of DLSS 3 is to generate complete frames based on game data such as motion vectors and optical flow analysis.
This technology has indeed achieved significant results in improving the number of game frames, but it is not without cost.
Although NVIDIA introduced Reflex technology in DLSS 3 to solve the delay problem, from the results, its delay data is still higher than that of DLSS 2.
Therefore, for some users who care more about latency than frame rate, DLSS 3 is not necessarily better than DLSS 2.
