Boycott SMR: Synology releases NAS dedicated hard drive, up to 12TB and 7×24 hours reliable.
News on June 2, as the big brother in the NAS market, Synology’s products are inseparable from hard disks.
In the past two years, they simply made HDD hard disks by themselves.
Previously, they promoted enterprise-level and high-end NAS, and released them at the Taipei Computer Show. The HAT3300 series is optimized for entry-level NAS, with a capacity of 4TB to 12TB.
The HAT3300 series is a 3.5-inch HDD hard disk, SATA 6Gbps interface, 512e sector, 256MB cache, and it uses CMR magnetic recording technology, instead of the SMR technology that almost everyone complain.
This series has four capacities: 4TB, 6TB, 8TB and 12TB.
The first three are 5400RPM speed, 12TB is a helium-filled hard disk, 7200RPM speed, so the speed of 240MB/s is also slightly higher than other models 202MB/s.
The price is that the power consumption of 12TB is also higher, the standby power consumption is 5.07W, the active power consumption is 8.33W, the other three models are mostly 3.4W in standby mode, and the average running power consumption is 5.3W.
The NAT3300 series also focuses on reliability.
The MTBF interval between failures is as high as 1 million hours, the annual data volume is 180TB, and the three-year warranty is guaranteed.
According to Synology, the hard drives are optimized and support 365 days, 7×24 hours of operation.
In terms of price, 4TB starts at $89, 6TB starts at $149, 8TB starts at $189, and 12TB starts at $249.
However, it seems that there are already sales in China, and the price of 8TB is 1930 yuan, which is a bit exaggerated.
