AlmaLinux is a free and open source Linux distribution originally created by CloudLinux to provide a community-supported, production-grade enterprise operating system that is binary compatible with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL).
The first stable version of AlmaLinux was released on March 30, 2021.
On March 30, 2021, the AlmaLinux OS Foundation (AlmaLinux Operating System Foundation) was established to take over the development and governance of AlmaLinux from CloudLinux, which has committed to funding the project with $1 million per year.
AlmaLinux OS 8.6 is officially released, codenamed Sky Tiger, kernel version 4.18.0-372.9.1.el8, for all supported architectures:
